Real World Touchpoints
What is the Daily Logo Challenge?I participated in Harris Roberts' daily logo challenge. For 50 days I created a new logo based on the daily email prompts and later applied them to mockups to provide better real world context.
On the right is a redesign for the daily logo challenge itself I made for one of the challenges. |
The design processIt of course starts with a prompt. Every day between 8-9am I would receive an email like the one to the right. It would include the mandatory challenge as well as some possible company names to help inspire creativity. I would thumbnail a few sketches and then pursue the most viable idea in Illustrator.

Something DifferentThis challenge wasn't daunting just because of the workload but also its popularity. Many talented designers have completed this challenge. So as I progressed I tried to set myself more and more apart from previous designs. One easy way was simply changing the company names. Those names were a bit sterile to me and I design best went I have a specific need to address. I would start with a name and imagine who this company was for. Was it a child focused brand with a broad appeal? Or perhaps it a smaller store with a niche demographic?

Final Logos
The slide show to the right shows the full identity and the compilations below focus more so on just the logo. I did modify a few after their respective days to improve their legibility or format for a different medium.
This process helped improve my creativity as it really forced me to produce something I was proud of every day as well as gave me the opportunity to experiment. |
